2012 Favorites and Round Up
There has been so much this year to be excited about, but I wanted to share my favorites of 2012!
Makeup/Beauty: I like to keep the products I put on my body a little more natural and chemical free. But with some I stick with the name brands. I have loved this eye shadow quad from Sei Bella. The colors are raisin, blushing coral, and brown sugar; they are more brown and copper colored with a highlight. Then for my favorite mascara I love the Almay Intense I-color in the color black emerald; it is a creamy black formula with green swirled in. It makes my green eyes pop. I also love Almay's eyeliner in 01 purple amethyst. It is a beautiful purple that lasts on my water line all day. Then finally my favorite nail-polish is Aperitif from Essie. It is the perfect Christmas red.
Games: As a gift we got this game called Frog Juice. It is honestly so fun. It is a card game with spells and witches where you get points from making spells and trading in cards, and at the end whoever has the most points WINS!! I also love TriBond; I'm not very good at the sports questions, but I love the riddles and pictures. And finally I LOVE Settlers of Zarahemla, which is much like Settlers of Catan but a different version. In my family we are huge game people and these are the funnest to play together. Just thinking about them brings back fun memories.
Video Games: As with board games we are video game people: everything from Zelda to Plants vs. Zombies. The new Zelda game came out and we loved it. Twilight Princess is my favorite out of the Zelda series though. Then there are the Lego Harry Potter's and the Lego Lord of the Rings. (I'm wishing that they will come out with a Lego Hobbit as well... we shall see.) My husband Jer and I love to play these when he has some time away from work!
Songs: There are so many songs I love and I love all different genres of music, but I have my top 5 favorite songs of 2012.
5. "Brighter Than the Sun," by Colbie Caillat
4. "Ours," by Taylor Swift
3. "Die Young," by Kesha
2. "Pumped Up Kicks," by Foster the People
1. "A Thousand Years Pt. 2," Christina Perri
Music fills in when we can't speak and warms the soul. :)
Snacks: I'm allergic to everything. So I don't really eat any junk food, and so I'm sorry if these kinda suck. I love Greek yogurt with blueberries and honey. Chips and salsa are my life. And when I want something a little more sweet I cut up Gala apples and sprinkle them with cinnamon. Yummm!
Books: Now this will be a very long one, since I'm a huge book nerd! I'm going to start off with not just my 2012 favorites but my forever favorites. The complete Harry Potter series has my heart, soul and childhood. As does the Hobbit. I read them over and over and never get bored. My this-year-fav's are Fablehaven, by Brandom Mull: a wonderful fantasy series that takes you to a creature preserve and on a magical journey, then the Hunger Games, by Susanne Collins, which is about a post-apocalyptic televised game show where 2 children under the age of 18 fight till the death. It is heart-breaking and empowering and an amazing story of courage even when you're in the worst places.
Movies: until I did this I never realized how much I stay home and read, play games, and watch movies. Brave is an amazing animated movie about a mother and daughter who struggle with wanting different things for the daughter's life. They have to learn to mend their relationship after a huge fight that changes her mother into a bear. I think every mother and daughter can relate a little, and this has amazing music and wonderful graphics. Then there is Pitch Perfect, one of the best comedies I have seen. Just go rent it! You won't be sorry. Then my favorite film of this year.... The Hobbit. I'm a huge fan of the whole series from The Hobbit to The Lord of the Rings and this movie did not disappoint. I loved how true they stayed to the story and the acting was wonderful; I could go on and on about how wonderful it was. But it won't be for some. This move is almost 3 hours long and could be boring to people who are not into this sort of thing. Luckily my husband and I are the biggest nerds to walk the earth and it captured my heart and will stay forever.
TV shows: Jer and I love Raising Hope--my goodness it is the funnest show I have seen in a very long time and I laugh out loud at least once in every single episode. Amazingly cast and great acting. Bones is another favorite in my house. And as for my guilty pleasure show, I love Pretty Little Liars. My life really has no drama or scandal, just my husband and I enjoying our lives together, so this show gives me my shot of crazy!
Random: Just a few more random things I loved in 2012.
1. My amazing husband. He is the other half of me and makes me so happy.
2. Starbucks hot chocolate with loads of whipped cream.
3. The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
4. My family.
5. Toasty warm blankets to crawl into.
6. Cinnamon-scented candles..
7. Scarfs.
I love you all and hope you have an amazing New Year's Eve, and I hope this new year brings happiness, love , and joy!
